Statins
Statins are a group of medicines that can help lower the level of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in the blood.
LDL cholesterol is often referred to as “bad cholesterol”, and statins reduce the production of it inside the liver.
Heart UK and the Academic Health Sciences Networks (AHSN). are working with NHS England, supporting primary care in the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease through its national Lipid Management and Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH) programme of work.
There are a series of new animations and leaflets to highlight the importance of managing cholesterol, and the steps that can be taken if cholesterol levels are high.
